When you have ears to the ground to understand how corporates recruit their board members is a result from from know how-know who that plunges such organisations into an enormous risk of strategic management.
It was therefoe premature for the privatisation unit to have relinquished this energy body to the sharks who have now derailed it to nothing. | Really most of us expected these blackouts when the Gov't blindly went into bed with UMEME owners. Someone somewhere made his business and Ugandans should even look out for the worst. For instance has anyone predicted what this means to the manufacturers, wait we shall witness low production hence supply-demand crisis. |

Ugandans are being mis lead by the fact that public media is being used to demonise UMEME but for all i know the truth is that gov't is responsible for the expensive power tarriffs.
My arguement is supported by the following.
- The Uganda Electricity Board was divided in three different institutions now if you look at tax or what URA calls VAT multiply 18% times three (54%) at every level of exchange in hands from the generating company to transmissions ,to distribution and finally to the consumer.
- Another reason is that the UEB or (UEDCL) failed to carry out maintainence on the existing grid system hence UMEME is suffering the bite of having to revamp the old grid system and put up new installations so as to reduce on power loss and accidents in local communities.
- Finnally UMEME doesnot set the unit cost of a volt, there is a commision put up by government which regulates and sets prices for the unit cost of power.
TERMINATING the UMEME contract is fueled by those who have selfish needs but UMEME is toiling to put our power distribution to the world standards by even introducing prepaid meters.
I know we all have different angles from which we perceive ideas but i think government is to blame. |

Who monitors such hawks and who penelises them. People out of ignorance or busy time are being exploited by field wiring guys their supervisors and thos eplanting poles are even worse. When a citizen pays for a pole, they plant an old one and take away the new pole. What is this? |

The UMEME contract should be terminated because it is not only costly to the Government but also to the citizens of Uganda. Recently the UMEME people came and disconnected me claiming to be demanding me 400,000/= Ugandan shillings yet in actual i was the one demanding them. After that there is no reason they can give to convince me that they are not a menace to the Ugandans.
