Road reserves of all national roads will double in size according to the proposed amendment to the road Act.

The current road Act of 1964 provides for 15 meters for road reserves but technocrats have recommended of doubling it to ensure safety of road users.

Works ministry Engineer, Were Higenyi explains that the new plan will enable the establishment and protection of road reserves.

If the road Act is amended, people with buildings in road reserves will be demolished and owners compensated.
