Woman charged with maliciously spreading HIV

An 18-year-old woman in Kitgum town has been charged with malicious infection of an infant with HIV.

Its alleged that Judith Atim on the 3rd of March this year,drew her blood contaminated with the Virus that causes AIDS and injected it into a two-year-old daughter of her neighbour.

According to the charge sheet Atim, said to be living with HIV/Aids, used syringes to inject the infant well knowing her status.

She denied the charge and the chief magistrate; Amos Kwizera gave her a non-cash bail of 300,000 shillings.

She returns to court on the 7th of April this year.
