A primary school headteacher in Mukono district collapsed and was admitted to hospital after being forced to hand over office on Tuesday.

Daniel Kunya, the headteacher of Seeta Church of Uganda Primary School, was admitted to Gwatiro Nursing Home in Bweyogerere, Wakiso district.

He collapsed during a meeting in which he was forced to hand over office to his deputy, Florence Nabasumba, by the diocesan education officers.

The diocesan secretary, Moses Banja, said he had been directed by the diocesan bishop, Eria Luzinda, to dismiss Kunya.

He said Kunya had failed to improve the standards of the school.

The school is supposed to be a model in the diocese, but its standards have deteriorated because of him,” Banja said.
