RESIDENTS of Kikwandwa village in Kakiri Sub-county in Wakiso district on Wednesday clashed with West Heart College School over a road.
The angry residents accused the school of encroaching on their land to construct the road.
The road was allegedly constructed on Tuesday night on the boundary between the school and Anthony Kairu’s land.
Kairu said he had rejected the school’s request to buy the contested land. “I got this land from my father over eight years ago and I will not sell it,” he said.
During a meeting convened by the LCIII chairman, James Mukalazi, on Wednesday morning, residents accused the LCI chairman, Willington Sserebe, of conniving with the school owner, William Katumba, to grab the land.
In the heated meeting, which was monitored by two armed Policemen, Sserebe, claimed the land owners refused to attend the meetings he convened with the school.
Mukalazi, said he had contacted Katumba, and other affected parties to settle the matter. The school agreed to settle the matter amicably with those affected.
