MUSLIMS have vowed to shun political parties that do not have a clear vision for them.
Speaking after prayers at the disputed Masjid Noor mosque on William Street on Tuesday, the chairman for the College of Eminent Sheikhs, Sheikh Obedi Kamulegeya, called upon Muslims to be vigilant in the 2011 elections.
“We should study the candidates we intend to give our votes. They should have a vision for Muslims and a development plan for the nation,” said Kamulegeya.
He said Muslims should use the political field to promote democracy and development. “Many of these parties only want power and money. You can imagine we have over 30 opposition political parties of which many are unknown to the public,” he noted.
