STATE minister for minerals Peter Lokeris has won the NRM party primaries for Chekwi county seat. Lokeris got 5,018 votes, beating his closest rival, Rose Nacha, who got 3,771 votes.
Simon Peter Lokiru trailed with 3,726 votes. The minister becomes the NRM flag-bearer in the parliamentary elections next year.
The returning officer, Kalisto Loput, said the final results had been sent to the NRM head office. Provisional results had earlier indicated that Lokeris was trailing. Also, transport state minister Simon Ejua claimed victory over his rivals for the Vurra country parliamentary seat.Ejua said he got 16,710 votes.
But Swaib Akijo, the retuning officer declined to give the results, saying he had sent them to the NRM headquarters. In Entebbe Municipality, Patience Mubangizi won the primaries with 2,596 votes.
She beat her closest rival, the former Rwampara MP, Amon Muzoora, who got 2,454 votes.
