EDITOR—The Northern Bypass was handed over to the Government recently has reduced traffic jam and provided alternative routes to motorists. However, there are still incomplete works like the lights which are not yet activated, the drainage system not finalised and minor other works.

My major concern is that the design of the road may need to be changed when they start constructing the parallel road along the existing one.

At the Bwaise junction with the bypass, there is such heavy traffic intersecting that a flyover is necessary at this point. With the completion of the Gayaza road which is also wide, there will be an increase in traffic on the road especially those heading east as the Jinja highway from Kampala to Mukono is also jammed.

The Kampala-Gayaza-Bugerere road is most likely to be the other road motorists will find popular since the Soroti- Lira road has also been worked on.

Consequently, the Kalerwe junction needs to be redesigned now based on current projections of traffic.
