EDITOR: A New Vision journalist was on Monday slapped and punched by city tycoon Hassan Basajjabalaba as he tried to take his picture at the NRM conference for special organs in Namboole.

This is not only an assault on an individual, but the whole of New Vision and the entire media fraternity. This is the third time Basajjabalaba is punching journalists on duty. On the whole, Basajjabalaba's conduct during the NRM primaries, especially in Bushenyi, left a lot to be desired.

My question is; where does Basajjabalaba get the audacity and powers to assault whoever he chooses in this country? Does having money mean one is above the law?

Is Basajjabalaba the only person with money in this country? Is it possible to discipline him or are the rich in this country above the law?

I implore the Police chief Maj. Gen Kale Kayihura to get Basajjabalaba arrested to answer for his sins?

Editor: I was so disappointed to read in the newspapers on Tuesday that the NRM chairman for Bushenyi District, Hassan Basajjabalaba, beat up a New Vision journalist when he tried to take his photograph.
It is a national shame to find such public figure fighting a journalist.
This is not the first time he is doing it. Is Basajjabalaba above the law? Is he untouchable? What picture is he showing? Who can respect such a person whose habits show that he does not have self respect?
He should give a public apology for his bad conduct towards the media.
