Are these politicians out to serve Uganda?

EDITOR: An innocent observation of the recently concluded NRM party polls would make one think that Ugandans are a lucky lot given the number of people 'dying' just to serve the ordinary Ugandan.

However, its now common knowledge that the easiest way to make money in Uganda nowadays is by having a political office. This is why most NRM candidates are fighting tooth and nail to retain or get into office.

These people know they can barely survive out of office because they wouldn't have access to the patronage and favours that come with political office in Uganda.

EDITOR: The NRM primary elections have taken Uganda by storm. The problem with most of our politicians is intrigue and malice.

They behave as though winning an election is the only reason for breathing. I urge our politicians to concede defeat, pick themselves up and move ahead.

The difference between us and the developed countries does not lie in the colour of the people, but technique of handling defeat in an election. To them life has to go on after an election.

Losers often combine efforts with the winners to develop their countries. The NRM should also use this opportunity to assess its policies and systems.
