THE Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) has been accused of trespassing on private property in Busia town.

The land, located on Plot 91 on Custom Road, allegedly belongs to the family of the late John Odongo Monica Odongo, the widow, told The New Vision that the tax body’s Busia branch occupied her storied building and started using it without her consent in October last year.

The widow, who lives in Nauyo, on the outskirts of Mbale town with her four children, explained that after the trespass, she wrote to the URA corporate services manager warning them against their action, but they did not respond and continued occupying the property.

“Before writing, we visited URA offices and informed them that they had trespassed on our land, but they claimed that they were renting Plot 95 and their landlord is Amos Wanjala,” Monica said.

She said her plot title certificate is LRV 4006 folio 08, while that of Plot 95 is volume 3303, folio 6. The tax body could not be reached for a comment.
