By Douglas Mazune KENYA Safari Rally officials will grace the launch of the KCB Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally launch at Lubiri today. The Kenyans who were expected to arrive last night will share experiences with their Ugandan counterparts ahead of the Pearl rally slated for April 30- May 1.
A working relationship was initiated by Kenya bank KCB that sponsors both events. Pearl rally event manager Jack Wavamuno and Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU) president George Kagimu attended the launch of the KCB Safari Rally in Nairobi yesterday. The Safari is slated for April 2-4.
FMU vice president (rallying) Kisitu Mayanja said Pearl rally officials would attend the Safari rally as well.
“We have the same sponsor; it was easy to establish a working relationship.
The KCB officials are now in Nairobi and they will be in Kampala tomorrow (today),” Kisitu stated. The Pearl rally, which is the third round of the Africa Rally Championship is expected to attract competitors from South Africa, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Zambia, Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda and hosts Uganda.
The three-day event is expected to start with a super special stage at Lubiri racing circuit on April 30.
Clerk of course Stephen Byaruhanga will today unveil the new route that he has been tight-lipped about since December.
