Abdu Nadduli THE outspoken politician who is also a Mengo official, Hajji Abdu Nadduli, wants the post.
He won the contest of NRM chairman for Luwero district.
He is the former district chairman who lost his seat to Ronald Ndawula. He had been disqualified from the race over inadequate academic papers. He has now completed his degree at Bugema University.
He is known for loving Buganda as much as he loves the NRM.
Nadduli is known to be one of the few NRM politicians who have been criticising his government on measures perceived to be anti-Buganda.
“I have been trying to reconcile Buganda and Uganda. I think I have been the leading person in NRM doing that. I believe if I am put in the office of NRM vice-chairman for Buganda, I will show Buganda and the NRM government the right path for walking together in harmony,” Nadduli said.
Mulindwa Birimumaaso Born 48 years ago, Mulindwa Birimumaaso was elected Bukoto West MP in Masaka district in 1996. He was a member of the defence and internal affairs committee between 1996 and 1997 before he joined the committee on presidential affairs, where he served up to 1999.
Birimumaaso was also a member of the Constituent Assembly from 1994 to 1995. He once worked with the External Security Organisation.
On August 27, 2002, Birimumaaso was sentenced to jail over abuse of office. He was among the 92 prisoners pardoned by the President but he lost his seat as MP when he was charged over corruption.
He is the current NRM chairperson of the newly-created Lwengo district.
Dr. Hajji Muyanja Mbabaali Mbabaali, a former Bukoto South MP, is a prominent businessman in Masaka and Kampala.
He recently won the contest for Lwengo district chairman.
Born in Kisangala village in Lwengo, the 57-year-old politician is known for being a skillful mobiliser.
“I am not looking for a job or money. I want to serve the people of Buganda.
I want to act as the voice of Buganda in NRM politics,” Mbabaali said.
