CAPTAIN Francis Babu, 62, is again set to take on Muhammed Nsereko, 29, for the position of the National vice-chairman for Kampala district in the forthcoming NRM party executive elections.

The position of the vice-chairperson for Kampala was created recently to cater for the big number of party supporters in the city.

Babu and Nsereko contested recently for the office of Kampala Central NRM chairperson and the latter won.

Both Babu and Nsereko are again aspiring for the Kampala Central MP seat, which is currently held by Elias Lukwago.

The two will face-off in the party primaries, where the winner will be the party’s flag bearer for the parliamentary seat.

Babu, a resident of Nakasero II, was MP for Kampala Central until 2006. Nsereko, is a trusted mobiliser of NRM in Kampala.

Several other people have also expressed interest in the seat and these include Abubaker Serwamba, 57, a former councillor at the City Council. Serwamba is a resident of Makindye West B.

Like Babu and Nsereko, Serwamba is also interested in the politics outside his party. He is aspiring for the Kampala mayoral seat.
