THE goalkeeper of the national soccer team, Hamza Muwonge, was yesterday released after reaching an understanding with assistant Inspector General of Police, Richard Bisherurwa.
“He has apologised to Bisherurwa,” said Police spokesperson Judith Nabakooba. Accordingly, the Police officer has withdrawn the charges against the Cranes star.
Muwonge, due to play in the Africa Championship Cup against Burundi on Sunday, was arrested on Monday over assault and malicious damage to the property of his neighbour, Bisherurwa, in Bunamwaya, a Kampala suburb.
Muwonge had re-directed a water channel from Bisherurwa’s residence which he said flooded his residence whenever it rained.
